Hey everyone! Well, I got my first training camp invite this past weekend though I haven't signed any paperwork yet. That's the good news! Now some of you are probably wondering how because you've been hearing about the Arena Football League canceling its 2009 season. Well, I have played in the AIFA (American Indoor Football Association) for the past 3 seasons which is owned and operated different from the AFL (Arena Football League). Which brings me to the bad news, again the AFL has canceled their 2009 season. The AFL is or was the NFL of Arena/Indoor football. So, I'm crossing my fingers that it returns in 2010.
With that said back to the good news! After attending an open tryout this past weekend for the AIFA's South Carolina(Greenville,SC) Force I was invited to the teams training camp which begins in February to compete for a spot on the team roster. I've been training rigorously and getting myself in shape as I want to have a great season. Thanks to everyone that continues to show me support and send words of encouragement they mean a lot. Don't forget to follow my blog. Its a link you can click on and follow the steps so you can keep up with my entries. Take care and have a great weekend.

December 13, 2008 Workout
Hello everyone! As most of you know I have been getting some interest from the teams in the AIFA (American Indoor Football Association) the league I've played the last 3 seasons in to play the 2009 season. However, I have been concentrating my efforts on moving up to the top Arena football league the AFL. Though this be the case my agent is working to get me a workout this weekend with the new AIFA team the South Carolina Force. The team is based in Greenville, SC which is approximately 1 hour from my home and I wouldn't have to quit my job in order to play for them! This is important because though it is considered professional football because you recieve a paycheck. Most players only earn about the equivalent of a part-time job salary to play. That's the reason moving up to the AFL is vital. Minimum Salary in that league is $2k/per game with the average pay around 5k/per game! So, wish me luck in signing this weekend with the AIFA team so if I don't go AFL this year I'll still have a place to play.
sincerely,

Plaxico Burris
Hello everyone,
I don't know if you've been keeping up with the news or not, but I am extremely upset and embarassed as well with the whole Plaxico Burris situation. If you haven't heard this NFL star and multi-millionaire shot himself in the leg while at a night club in New York City last week. I have a lot of negative feelings about NFL players that due STUPID things, yes I said it.
Though I do not know him personally, I for one would have to imagine that if he feared for his own life then one why would he put himself in a "dangerous" situation. Secondly, if he wanted to go to the club and felt threatened I have to imagine he can afford to hire LISCENSED security...which means they ARE legally able to carry loaded handguns (if you are unaware that in NY state you canNOT have a handgun unless in some type of law enforcement job).
It just pisses me off that these guys have the best Professional FOOTBALL job you can get and they take it for granted. I wish when they do stupid things they would think of all the players out there that WISHED they could be in their shoes...then maybe they would learn to respect the positions they are in and would not take it for granted.
Finally, I agree with his suspension w/o pay, but feel like 4 games is not enough. How about everytime one of these guys making millions does something stupid we take the salary he has to forfeit and put it in the lower level leagues where WE don't have all the perks such as big money, best training staffs, equipment, etc. of NFL players.
Do you Agree???

I still can ride my bike!
Hello everyone,
First thanks for taking time to read my blog entries and continue to follow my progress. Please remember to subscribe to my blog on my webpage at: www.angelfire.com/poetry/inmotion04/ If not you'll just be emailed randomly from my contact list with my blog entries. So, its randomly selected if you don't subscribe.
Now to business! Yesterday a few of my "Pupils" and a former teammate got together and competed against each other in some 1 on 1 coverage drills. Me and My former teammate are getting ready for an Arena Football League Combine in January in which I will showcase my athletic ability, as well as, the experience and knowledge I've picked up in the last 3 seasons playing in the lower level Arena Football Leagues. Needless to say though I have only been seriously running again for a week my speed was amazing. As for my coverage skills thats like riding a bike for me and I never forgot how to ride a bike!!! I covered well, ran routes well and most of all I still had a lot of fun doing it. I feel like I'm 21!!! Just image how good of shape I'll be in January. So stay tuned!
I had a really productive day and most of you all know my goals, but as I get older (28 puts me out of NFL entry level age, but still entry level age for the top paying Arena football league)those goals are slowly fading. Its almost a case of NOW or NEVER. I've put up good numbers the past three seasons and have played with former NFL, CFL, AFL players and haven't had any trouble holding my own but now its my time to shine!
Thanks for the continued support and subscribe to my blog!

New week next phase!
Alright for the past 5 weeks I haven't been doing as much running. Focusing more on getting stronger and maintaing weight. I did actually miss about 2 1/2 weeks due to some personal issues but I got back on track and finished strong. The next 6 weeks will consist of quicker weightroom workouts rest times of only 45secs in between sets and more focus on the athletic aspect of football running, cutting, jumping etc. So my weight was 183 today and I still want to take that up to 190 while doing more running. It's going to be hard but theres a saying that goes, "Anything worth having is worth working hard for." I'd like to think my goals are worth having so I'm willing to work hard for them.

Determination
I left the gym last night at 11:30pm. Now that may not sound too bad, but I want to go a little deeper into what one of my days are like. First off I work a full time job from 8am-330pm. Next, I go to a part time job from 430pm-9pm. Then last night I got to the gym at 10pm and got my workout in until 11:30pm. I was in bed by 12:30am and up at 6:30am to do it all over again! So, do you have to want it bad??? Yes, you have to want it real bad. Because I'm just like any other person in this world that works to pay their bills only I have to stay in elite shape as well while doing it. I would describe it as being focused and never giving up on your dream! If you see something within your grasp it's kind of hard to just let it slip away.

Im sore!!!
My legs feel like hell right now! My warm up yesterday was 18mins of jumping rope, yes the WARM-UP! Then 4 sets of 25 sec plyometric jumps....whew!!! Can you say ice bath??? Hey, you got to do what the competition isn't in order to make it right. I gotta make my goal of playing in the AFL a reality and I have to make it happen quick. How do you feel about that? Any comments or suggestions?
